Privacy Policy
ProPushup (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) is a fitness app that helps you track push-ups, squats, and similar exercises using your device’s camera and on-device pose detection. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application. It is designed to meet the requirements of the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Please read it carefully. By using the App, you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect and process the following information:
- Account and authentication: If you create an account (email/password or Google Sign-In), we receive and store your email address, display name, and an authentication token. Passwords are hashed and stored securely on our servers; we do not store plain-text passwords.
- Profile and preferences: Name, email, gender (optional), country (optional), weight (optional), daily push-up goal, theme preference (light/dark), and whether you want your name shown on the leaderboard.
- Workout data: Workout sessions you complete (e.g. exercise type, rep counts, duration, date/time). This data is stored on your device and, when you are signed in, synced to our servers so you can access it across devices and appear on leaderboards (Today, Weekly, Month, All Time).
- Group workouts: If you join or create live group workouts, we store group membership and session data necessary to run those features (including via Firebase/Firestore for real-time sync).
- Leaderboard: Your rank, user name (if you have “Show my name” enabled), push-up counts, and related stats may be shown on public leaderboards. You can turn off name visibility in Settings.
- Camera and pose data: The App uses your device’s camera to count reps. Pose detection is performed on your device only using Google ML Kit. No camera video or pose data is sent to our servers or to Google for recognition; processing is local.
- Device and usage: We may log device type, app version, and general usage (e.g. API requests) for security, debugging, and service improvement. We do not sell your personal data.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the App’s features: account management, workout tracking, sync across devices, leaderboards, and group workouts.
- To authenticate you and keep your data associated with your account.
- To improve the App, fix errors, and ensure security.
- To comply with applicable law and protect our rights and users’ safety.
3. Storage and Sync
- On your device: Data is stored locally (e.g. SharedPreferences, local SQLite database). Camera and pose processing happen on-device; no video is stored on our servers.
- Cloud sync: When you are signed in, your profile and workout sessions are synced to our backend servers so you can use the App on multiple devices and participate in leaderboards.
- Third-party infrastructure: We may use services such as Firebase (for real-time group features) and our own API servers. Data is processed in accordance with this policy and our providers’ terms.
- Uninstalling the App removes local data. Account data on our servers is deleted when you delete your account (see Delete Account page).
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We may share data with service providers that help us operate the App (e.g. hosting, authentication). They are bound by confidentiality and use data only as needed to provide the service.
- Leaderboard data (name, rank, counts) is visible to other users as described in the App; you can hide your name in Settings.
- We may disclose information if required by law (e.g. court order, government request) or to protect our or others’ rights and safety.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each with its own privacy practices:
- Google ML Kit (Pose Detection): Used on-device only for counting reps. No video or pose data is sent to Google. See Google Privacy Policy and ML Kit documentation.
- Google Sign-In (optional): If you sign in with Google, Google’s use of information is governed by Google Privacy Policy.
- Firebase / Firestore (optional): Used for real-time group workout features. Data is processed as described in Firebase Privacy.
- Our API backend: Your account and workout data are sent to our servers over HTTPS for sync and leaderboards.
6. Security
- We use industry-standard measures (e.g. HTTPS, secure authentication) to protect your data in transit and at rest.
- You are responsible for keeping your device and account credentials secure (e.g. lock screen, not sharing your password).
7. Your Rights and Choices
- You can view, edit, or delete much of your data within the App (e.g. profile, workout history).
- You can sign out or delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. Account deletion permanently removes your data from our servers (see Delete Account page).
- You can disable “Show my name” on the leaderboard in Settings.
- Depending on your location, you may have additional rights (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA): access, correction, deletion, portability, or objection. Contact us to exercise them.
8. Data Retention
- Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Server data is retained while your account is active. After you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it by law (e.g. fraud prevention, legal obligations).
9. Children’s Privacy
- The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your region, e.g. 16 in some countries). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. International Data Transfers
- Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions) where required by law.
11. Changes to This Policy
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date below will change when we do.
- Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Material changes may be communicated in the App or by email where appropriate.
12. Contact Us
- For privacy-related questions, requests (e.g. access, deletion, portability), or complaints, contact us at the email or address provided in the App listing on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, or via in-app Help & Support if available.
